The brachytherapy program at First Coast Oncology is varied in the range and complexity of the implants done. We use the High Dose Rate (HDR) Remote Afterloading program, by means of the Nucletron microSelectron HDR unit along with Nucletron's most recent computer aided treatment design system (Plato BPS). The system offers integrated graphics capabilities that greatly facilitate the selection of an optimum plan of treatment. Sophisticated dose-volume/dose-rate conversions are used to convert decades of experience with low dose rate brachytherapy to give the equivalent doses for high dose rate treatments.
