 The B-Mode acquisition and
targeting system is the newest addition to the advanced
technology offered by First Coast Oncology. BAT® is an
ultrasound-based stereotactic tumor localization device
designed to maximize the precision and effectiveness of
external beam radiation therapy. It is a safe
system that tracks tumor location and allows physicians
to more precisely position the patient in alignment with
the treatment plan. Some of the
benefits to patients are:
- Reduced target
uncertainty, which ensures the radiation, is directly
focusing on the tumor.
Safer dose escalation
that increases confidence for field
positioning.
- Ultrasound-based
technology that provides safe, non-invasive
imaging.
This new technology was
originally developed to localize prostate tumors, but is
now considered a valuable tool for many other kinds of
cancers , such as breast, bladder, liver, pancreas and
