FIRST COAST ONCOLOGY OPENS OFFICE AT ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL


Jacksonville, FL – First Coast Oncology is the exclusive radiation oncology practice serving St. Luke's Hospital. The new office is located in the Joe Adams Building at 4205 Belfort Road, Suite 1004.


First Coast Oncology is comprised of three radiation oncologists, Scot Ackerman, M.D., Ryan Perkins, M.D and Paul Ossi, M.D. All physicians are board-certified and have been collectively treating cancer patients in the Jacksonville community for more than 20 years. With three locations, First Coast Oncology has an extensive staff consisting of board-certified radiation physicists, oncology certified nurses, medical dosimetrists, radiation therapists and social workers, who have a team approach to the practice of medicine focusing on the individual needs of each patient.


"Our practice has a strong history of working with St. Vincent's Healthcare," said Scot Ackerman, M.D. "It is exciting to see our practice grow as St. Luke's Hospital joins St. Vincent's HealthCare. FIRST COAST ONCOLOGY HIRES TWO NEW TEAM MEMBERS


Jacksonville, FL – First Coast Oncology has hired Paul Marvin, M.S. as a Therapeutic Radiological Physicist and Kathy Garrett as Marketing Director.

 

Marvin brings more than 32 years of experience to his position and is well versed in a all aspects of radiation therapy physics. He completed a fellowship at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas. Before joining First Coast Oncology, Marvin was employed by the H.D. Kerman Regional Oncology Center located in Daytona Beach. He is ABR Certified in Therapeutic Radiological Physics and is licensed by the State of Florida.


Garrett will be responsible for all marketing and public relations initiatives. She has 18 years experience in the healthcare industry with a focus on strategic marketing and has worked with St. Vincent's HealthCare, University of Chicago Hospitals and Cleveland Clinic.

DR. AND MRS ACKERMAN WIN HIGHEST HONOR


The Jewish National Fund presented its highest honor, the Tree of Life Award, to Dr. Scot & Alexandra Ackerman and Rabbi Michael Matuson on March 6, 2008.


The prestigious Bernard Selevan Tree of Life Award is given annually in recognition of outstanding community involvement, professional leadership and humanitarian service dedicated to the cause of American-Israel friendship, and devotion to The State of Israel.


The award is named Tree of Life™ to symbolize the Jewish National Fund’s efforts to reclaim and develop the land of Israel from a barren and uninhabitable desert into a land of lush green forests and fields, productive farmlands and varied tourism and recreational facilities. Tree of Life™ also describes the spiritual value and life-sustaining wisdom of the Torah, the Five Books of Moses.


Some of the past honorees nationally include Elie Weisel, Al Gore, Edgar Bronfman, Isaac Stern, Donald Trump, Ronald Lauder,and Hank Aaron. Local recipients include Robert Shircliff, Richard Sisisky, the Gottlieb Family, Delores and Wayne Weaver, the Parker/Wilf Families and the Selevan Family.


The Ackerman's have a long history and solid reputation of supporting their religious community locally, nationally and internationally.

GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY HELD AT BAPTIST-NASSAU


Baptist Hospital has started construction on a $24 million two story expansion. The new addition will include an intensive care unit and 48 private inpatient rooms. These spacious rooms will provide comfort and privacy to patients and their families and will be equipped with day beds and refrigerators.


First Coast Oncology is proud to support the efforts of Baptist Hospital through a generous gift. Paul Ossi, M.D., explains, “We are pleased to be a part of the effort to provide the community with the services they need in their hospital. When our patients may need inpatient care, they will have a high quality facility close to home.”
